C316N Polymorphism associated with resistance to HCV polymerase NS5B in treatment-naïve patient with chronic hepatitis C

High genetic variability of the hepatitis C virus (HCV) due to copying errors during viral cycle leads development mutations, and resistance-associated variants (RAVs), even with advent direct-acting antivirals (DAAs). Assessment presence these mutations is essential for targeted treatment regimens proper infection management, as related genotypes developing mutations. The study investigates resistance in nonstructural protein 5B (NS5B) region naïve patients. 100 positive plasma samples from patients presented a follow-up service chronic HCV (CHC) at National Institute Hygiene (NIH) Rabat-Morocco. NS5B sequencing revealed C316N one patient subtype 1b. Additionally, six treatment-naïve subtypes 2a 2i exhibited M289L mutation.
